Braginsky Collection, Zurich
The collection of Hebrew manuscripts of the Swiss collector René Braginsky is generally considered to be the largest private collection of Hebrew manuscripts in the world. It also contains a fair number of fine early printed books. The collection does not only contain codices, but also several hundreds illuminated marriage contracts and Esther scrolls. Ardon Bar Hama has photographed more than 500 manuscripts (25,000 images), for conservation purposes as well as for display online. In 2009, some hundred highlights from the collection were curated into a traveling exhibition which was shown in Amsterdam, New York and Jerusalem. Its prize-winning printed catalogue and innovative website rely heavily on Bar-Hama’s digital images. For the final showing of the traveling exhibition in Zurich in 2011 Bar-Hama is actively involved in the preparation of a new printed German catalogue and another, German language website.
The Gross Family Collection, Tel-Aviv
The collector William Gross has formed this collection of Jewish objects over nearly 50 years. The collection is comprised of many thousands of items. The variety of objects includes ritual objects from precious and non-precious metals as well as other materials such as wood, glass, etc., many textiles, decorated single pages both printed and hand written, manuscripts of codex form, scrolls, postcards and printed books. The collection is particularly strong in the area of Kabbalah. Ardon Bar-Hama has been steadily photographing the collection since 2006 and continues to do so at the present time. He has already photographed and processed more than 10,000 images from the Gross Collection.
The Moldovan Family Collection, New-York
Dr. Al Moldovan, the creator of the Moldovan Family Collection, is considered to be at the forefront of Judaica collectors in the United States. While the collection is wide-ranging in the types of objects that he has included in the collection, he and his late wife Jean created outstanding specialized sections in their general collection regarding the Passover Haggadah, Children’s Books, Posters and especially maps of the Holy Land dating from the 15th century until the 20th. Virtually all the flat material, consisting of several thousand items, has been photographed by Ardon Bar-Hama.
Shlomo Moussaieff Collection, London
The collection of the foremost collector of biblical archaeology is gradually being photographed by Ardon Bar-Hama. This vast private collection includes Menorahs, Jewish symbols, and ancient coins, glass vessels and manuscripts.
Ambassador John L. Loeb Jr. Collection, New York
This unique collection presents special works of 19th and 20th century Danish art. The works were gathered whilst John L. Loeb served as U.S. ambassador to Denmark from 1981-1983. Ardon Bar Hama created and designed the website accompanying the book, The Ambassador John L. Loeb Danish Art Collection. The collection is now viewable in both book form and online.
